Hi all
chapter 56 of my lockdown tinkering...
My fuel gauge works well with an accurate reading, but the low level warning lamp in the speedo is now permanently lit with the occasional flicker. It was temperamental for some time.

Is my problem with the sender unit?

any tips on repairing the fuel level light (permanently lit) when the fuel gauge is working fine?

I found this too. My solution was to extract the unit from the tank and cleanup the contacts. Problem solved. Another lister (either here or on J-L) had a sender that was too worn to repair this way. His solution was a replacement.

I had this problem when I first got my car. Turned out it was a wiring fault, with the connector for the warning light shorting on the tank where it connects to the sensor. I’m not sure if the 3.8 is the same. It would be worth disconnecting the lead and checking the light goes off first. If it doesn’t, you have a wiring fault, not a sensor fault.
