Hi,

I'm trying to work out how the seats should sit. The photos show a small black painted bracket that attaches to the side of the seat and I can't work out its purpose. The chrome bracket has a small metal strip screwed to the side which seems to sit on the black painted bracket when the seat back is erect. Finally there is a small hinge at the back of the seat, which seems designed to stop the seat back fouling the hood when it is stowed, but it doesn't look very effective. Can anyone give me any further information please?

Afraid I have no idea, but it looks like a home made job to me. Maybe to rectify a recline problem with the seat?

The L shaped blocks swivel to simply change the angle of the backrest.

Thanks very much Paul. One of the problems is that the L shaped bracket seems to short to alter the angle of the seat as it barely touches it.

The L shaped bracket just fits under the heal of the hinge by a small amount and no more; just enough to stop the backrest from laying all the way back.

I think that my second picture shows how much by.

However, on my seats they had been cut off and I had to re-make the brackets using detailed plans kindly given by one of the listers, so there is a possibility that mine are not quite to scale, although I am fairly confident they are correct.

I think you’re right. They look identical to mine. The trimmer is going to place a little block under the seat bracket to make sure it doesn’t foul the top when it’s folded down. Never having adjusted the rake of the seats in all the 15 years I’ve had the car I don’t think I’ll notice if they are in a fixed position!
