In case anyone ever wants to know, there is a double lipped oil seal pressed into the end of the speedo drive on the Moss box.
It is 5/16" ID and 9/16" OD and is 1/4" thick.
I am rebuilding a Moss box and decided to replace the "O ring" I thought was in there. Some considerable time later... this epiphany.
So this post, for posterity.
