Good Morning All,
My name is Chris. I seem to have a bit of a problem with my clutch. It is on an early 3.8 FHC. I recently replaced the master cylinder on the clutch. The replacement part was genuine Gerling part. I replaced and bled system. After test drive, the clutch was playing up again. I re-bled the system as I could see air bubbles coming up in the reservoir. I had a look at the Slave cylinder where there was some slight moisture so decided to replace Slave cylinder too. Having done that system was re-bled. Following further test drive, the clutch played up again. When pumping the clutch air bubbles appeared in reservoir. No loss of fluid. Clutch is difficult to engage. I can feel the gear box engaging, but when lifting the clutch, there is no response. The gear box is a standard Moss box. I can only guess that it is a faulty Master cylinder. Using Dott 4 brake and clutch fluid. If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks Chris.

Hi Chris.......I would first think that you still have air in the system......bleed the slave again.....open nipple press pedal down and hold down...close nipple....release pedal and repeat.....on the last down stroke fully push in the slave pushrod....you will probably see more bubbles come out.......also have you adjusted the pushrod as per the service manual....and do you have a return spring..Steve

Thanks for your reply. Do you think I will have to take the push rod off of the yolk and push it back or may be a small screwdriver in by the side of the rod? Yes I do have a spring on the return, and as for adjustment about 1 - 2 mm freeplay on the rod. I will have a play tomorrow. Thanks.

Hi Chris.....with your adjustment set up correctly there is still a bit of movement....you dont have to disconnect anything just push on the pushrod so its fully into the cylinder....if there is air trapped in there it will come out and you should see it in your bleed tube.....then tighten the nipple befor you release the pushrod....Steve
