Hi,
I'm current refurbing the seat frames for my car and wondered how to take the seat runners apart. They are very tight to move and appear to be bent and need straightening and then replating. The travel appears to be limited by indents which stop the rollers at the extremes of movement. I don't want to use a big hammer in case I've missed something. Any thoughts on how to take them apart?

Using a chisel ( not the flat one but the tappered), make a push-piece with an oval male head.
The head's size must be similar to the embossed mark on the slide.
Use a hydraulic press to push back the pressed stops of the slide. It will free the slides.
Clean and straighten the different parts.
Make new nylon small rolls.
Refit with fine oil.
Beware and make some trials for the rolls initial position into the slide.
This is what will make the right movement of the seat.
Redo the stops with the same tools as at the beginning but in the opposite direction.

Thanks Mich. Do you have to flatten the indent at one end or both ends? I've got enough work on with making a new front mount for the seat base so it may take me a while to update you on progress. Phil

I dont remember. But as there is two indent you need to work on the both. You'll build them as new as the factory did.

I only flattened the rear most indent/bump then slide it apart to the rear. Assembly, as they say, was in the reverse order. I did not re-introduce the indent, as it's virtually impossible for the slide halves to separate in the rearward direction once the seat is in.
