#1 S2 IRS rebuild

Post by Hotrod » Sat Dec 05, 2020 1:46 pm

So, I have taken the plunge...delayed by a bad back for a few weeks but yesterday removed the rear end and largely dismantled. I also bought a 3.07 diff off ebay. As a result I have to swap the inner fulcrum wishbone mounting brackets. These are shimmed. I cannot find in the manual how to re-shim the brackets. There is a diagram (Fig 20) but no reference to it or how/why you do it? Any clues?
Many thanks

Rod

Hi Rod......there is a complete section how to do it in the service manual....K14/15....basically bolt the diff into the cage with the 4 bolts on top.....with the brackets loose slide the fulcrum shaft through the cage and brackets...then shim to fit.....if you dont shim it the shaft will not slide through the cage and mount brackets easily...Steve
