#1 Boot hinge cover chrome trim

Post by Joes66 » Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:57 pm

Does anyone know if or where I can get the little chrome trims that go around the boot hinge and latch trims?
They are the half moon ones that go around the lip of the covers
Many thanks for any answers
Joe

Hi joe...On my 69 S2 2+2 they are plastic chrome look...........i think they are the originals......your best bet is to contact one of the usual trimmers and ask what they use......Steve

Try SNGB for part no. BD28310, sold at 5p/cm. They might send you a sample, but then again, half a metre or so will be pretty cheap anyway.
They advised me that their trim is suitable to replace that on the cantrails as well as the hinge covers. My search was the other way round to you, I had the hinge cover trims but needed to replace my cantrail trims. I was happy that the SNGB trim matched both applications, but obviously you can judge for yourself.
Hope this helps

Hi Alun.....yes that looks very much like the hinge cover trims....but very different from the cant rail trim which is almost the same as the long chrome bonnet trims....Steve

Hi Steve it could well be then that my cantrail trims, using that BD28310, are wrong. But they're the same as what came off, possibly a tiny bit shallower; bizarrely one side was 2" short, when I phoned around to replace at least that one side, I had no joy except for SNGB suggesting this as the best replacement. What came off is possibly all that someone who retrimmed the interior back in the '80s could find at the time. I remember from my own retrim, after purchasing a kit from Aldridge, I asked about the trims and was told I'd have to swap over the existing ones. Talking to SNGB revealed the availability of BD28310, which you might also find I suppose at generic suppliers like Woolies and I'm hoping it will solve Joe's speciic problem.

Hi Joe
Did my 3 covers last year with U-shaped chrome trim from BAS for about £5. Is available in various sizes from other trim suppliers and car-builder solutions.
Was quite fiddly trying to get it to bend smoothly around the corners though!

Ahh nice
Maybe use a hair dryer to make them softer?
Waiting for mine to come
