Hi all,

Back from skiing holiday in one piece ! I came across a Dutch company who on oldtimer fairs and in magazines advertises their portable car lift. It has 3,6 T capacity with safety locks. It is powered by a elelctric.hydraulic 220v power unit, has four posts and allows for two cars to be parked above one another.

Has anyone had any experiences with this type of car lift ? Has anynone any suggestions of things to look out for when potetntially buying such a lift ?

Any comments/suggestions more then appreciated !

I've seen this lift and it looks like very good value for money. There are some video clips of it being used on their website which are helpful.

For day to day use I find a 2 post lift more useful as it allows better access to the car but you should support the IRS if you use this type of lift rather than leave it hanging from the four rubber mounts.

I've heard of more than one Jag being raised on a lift leaving it's IRS on the floor.

I went the other way and installed a Mech-mate Motor-pit: http://www.mech-mate.com/ It is of course more hassle to install than the lift but I did not have enough headroom to do so.

I have also seen this lift at shows and it is regularly advertised in various magazines. I have been toying with the idea of buying one myself.

I think that the first time I saw it was a couple of years ago at the InterClassics show in the MECC, Maastricht. I am fairly sure that at the time they were taking orders at 1000 euros. It is currently advertised at 1620 pounds, which is of course significantly more. Anyway, it might be possible to get a decent discount by buying at a show.
