Fitting Durite hazard flasher
#1 Fitting Durite hazard flasher
Hi, I’ve bought a Durite 0-606-00 flasher and am looking to fit using the instructions previously listed on the forum. My question is about fitting to a positive earth car. The advice was to switch the + and C connections on the flasher (see pic below). Is this correct? Or should it be the + and R connections? I’m having brain fade

#2 Re: Fitting Durite hazard flasher
To clarify my question a bit:
The Durite flasher relay has 3 pins used as follows on a negative earth car:
+ goes to permanent live
C goes to the on/off switch
R goes to earth via a warning light
If used on a positive earth car wouldn’t you switch over the + and R pins so:
+ goes to earth
C still goes to on/off switch
R goes to live
Rather than swapping + and C as in the forum post instructions?

Hi Darryl.....if its electronics then it will be polarity sensitive.. The instructions look correct to me...you want a positive on the + terminal.....you would get this from the pos earth through the lamps and switch.....you then connect your live...neg to the C contact......if you look at the upgrade section where the cct and upgrade was first mentioned there is a link to Holden classic spares. .i think its their cct and their diagram that specs what to swap for pos/neg......so worth finding out whats in the relay..give them a call...Steve....have a look here...click on the tech advice https://www.holden.co.uk/p/12_volt_hazard_flasher_relay

Steve thanks, i think part of my confusion was forgetting I’d be getting pos earth thru the lamps and switch! Interestingly my Durite flasher is really a Mahle MFL13 under the sticker.

All now up and flashing
luckily my green indicator warning lights work on the hazards so there was no need for a separate warning light
