How difficult is it to replace one of the solid heater pipes that runs under the dash
One of mine has become corroded on the bit that sticks out into the engine bay and i can't now get the rubber pipe on it

Quite difficult if you were building an E type it would be almost first on your list to fit . They go through the two largest holes in the car .If one is corroded I would replace both with a pair of stainless ones. Good luck . Bryan PS. also fit the screen wash jets first.

I don't see any reason why I can't just bypass it with a rubber heater hose to be honest
Don't fancy ripping half the interior apart....

Its not too bad. Specially if you own 10 years olds.

A rubber hose is what its going to get
And in my view its an upgrade to a stupid design that was bound to go wrong
It was always going rot out causing pain misery and suffering to any owner in the future

The pipes in my car had rotted out and somebody in the dim and distant past had very carefully threaded a rubber pipe through the rusty pipes still retained in the bulkhead. Outwardly, it appeared perfectly standard.

I have no idea whether it actually worked or not, although I suspect not. Its just how the pipes were when I acquired the car in a thousand pieces.

I now have stainless steel pipes installed. It was a bit of a faff but not that bad.

My car has had two rubber hoses across the bulkhead since I bought it in 1997. No problems
