#1 Battery clamping rods

Post by swindler » Thu Apr 15, 2021 1:39 pm

Hi all

Does anyone know a supplier of either shorter battery clamping rods or rods with a longer thread?

I’m wanting to fit a shorter height Yuasa battery

Cheers!

You could pack the battery up to the 'standard' height with suitable blocks. Its not what I would do but is an option. You need to ensure that the lower position doesn't cause the clamp to foul on the surrounding bodywork.

I would cut the threads longer in the existing clamp rods and experiment that way before having them re-plated. From memory I think they're 5/16" UNF and you could buy yourself a set of UNF/UNC taps and dies and have a go yourself or maybe borrow some. They're incredibly useful to have to hand in the workshop.
