#1 S1 1965 seat base removal

Hi the seat base and runners are rusty how do I remove them to treat and paint .

Remove one screw at rear of each runner.........pull seat base rearwards to unhook the front of each runner..seat should now lift out with runners still attached..Steve

Sorry I should have explained better . I want to remove the seat runners and metal base from the seat itself .

Are there plastic covers over the hinges of the seat? Remove and then release tension on the spring before undoing the bolts/screws holding the hinge mechanisms to the seat base and back.
You should see how the runners are attached to the seat base, so should be easy to approach that task.
But beware, if the runners are stiff they may not become easy to slide as they could be bent from the weight of passengers over the years. Which will mean new runners.

The runners are secured to the seat base by setscrews into captive nuts . You need to slide a runner one way fully to the extreme of motion, which will reveal the screw at one end , undo that screw, then slide the runner to the other end and remove the second screw
