Hi we have just fitted the front wheels on and we have about 1.1/2 on the left degrees camber and 2.1/2 degrees camber on the right . I have not fitted the bonnet (hood) yet and the suspension may settle down a little as its all new. there are no shims fitted because these would make it worse. Will the weight of the bonnet help or is there another cure also we have not set the camber yet .(Engine in)

A few questions.

Have you set the correct ride height?
Is this negative or positive camber you mention above?
Towards the end, you say you have not set the “camber” yet. Do you mean castor?
Have you set the tracking?

The reason I ask is that all the above will affect the camber. You can’t set the camber until you have the car at the correct ride height and at least got the tracking and castor near to where they should be.

I spent a couple of weekends getting mine right.

Out of curiosity are the engine frames original or replacement?

Until you have the whole car assembled and have let the suspension settle by driving the car your measurements won't be accurate.

I usually put 4 shims on both sides as a starting point and then add/subtract to get the correct reading.

Factory spec is essentially zero for a S1 car. Some would recommend 1 degree of negative if using modern tyres, although this can be a little difficult to achieve sometimes.

Sorry I should have said we have positive camber and as you say I will leave it till bonnet on .
