#1 S1 Torsion Bars orientation

Post by gmunro » Wed Jul 28, 2021 5:54 pm

Hi Gents and Ladies,

Possibly an obvious question but an important one nonetheless. Torsion bars are "handed, L and R". Is this L and R from the driver's aspect or from the front of the car, (the engine bay) looking backwards? In other words, with a UK RHD car are the torsion bars fitted R to the off side and the L to the near side?

Many thanks.

From the drivers perspective facing forward.

In the UK, we have right hand drive cars. That is because we drive on the left hand side of the road so overtaking is easier.
Its true, but Enzo never said it

Thanks James,

I am in the UK and I understand the driving on the left principle. Thanks also for your input that L and R should be taken from the driver's perspective. What has confused me is that I have a Rob Beere adjustable reaction tie plate and the adjusters are the other way around! i.e. looking from the engine bay towards the rear of the car, the right hand adjuster is on the passenger (near) side! Perhaps I should call RB in the morning and ask him which way around his adjusters should be! I would like to think that they have been assembled the wrong way around ...... an unlikely mistake from RB.
