#1 Torque Settings for Engine/Picture/Bonnet Frames - SII OTS

Post by JC » Sun Jul 25, 2021 9:32 pm

Hello Again!!

Can anyone help by recommending a list of torque settings for the bolts attaching the engine frames to the bulkhead and for the bolts connecting the various frames?

Cheers, John C

Hi John.

In a situation where the manual doesn't provide a specific torque setting it's reasonable to go to a generic chart of torque by bolt size, material and thread.

Assuming your 5/16" bolts are grade 8 UNF you'd be looking at around 20lbft.

Nice and tight will do , not quiet FT , ( FT is for hub nuts , starte rmotors , and bell housing bolts erc )
And once driven for 500 or so miles check and retighten to nice and tight , or an imperial grunt .
Hope that is of some help

FT presumably means jolly tight!! Two white knuckles.
