#1 First gear not engaging
I have a series 1.5 FHC 4.2 with manual gearbox. I overhauled all hydraulics including clutch master and slave. I have put new redline or reddot MT90 oil in the box. In general it drives great but sometimes in standstill at stoplight it does not engage in the first gear, not in second etc. until I release the clutch in neutral and then press the clutch again and then it works fine. Really strange but I think a synchromesh is broken in the gearbox. What else can it be?

#2 Re: First gear not engaging
It's not an uncommon occurrence , and usually it does not mean that there is anything seriously wrong in the gearbox. It might be that your idle speed is a little higher than it should be. Another possibility is that the pushrod on the clutch slave cylinder is slghtly shorter than it should be
