Post by mgcjag » Mon Aug 16, 2021 8:05 am

Hi All...i should know this but just want confirmation......just purchased an old vintage radio...yes i know the sound wont be great....fitting it more for the visuals......so radio has a 4 ohm output.....so i can connect a single 4 ohm speaker.....but could i fit 2 x 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel to the output......the 2 together will be 4 ohms or will i overload an old type radio.....thanks.....Steve

Can't see that it would overload the radio. The impedance needs to match the amp, so providing you are presenting 4 ohms, the power drawn to provide a specific volume level will depend more on the other characteristics of the speakers (size of the drivers/magnets etc).

I only fit in a 2+2, so got one!
