Adam : when you say weep,I assume this is from the pushrod end? The only way you can tell if the cylinder is re-usable is to strip it down and have a look at the bore . If it is pitted then you either have to resleeve it or replace it, but if ( as sometimes is the case) the bore is still shiny then new seals will be perfectly acceptable

Hi Adam
Last year I noticed I had a small leak from the pedal piston and over winter repaired using the seal kit which was successful, as it happened a rubber seal was previously inserted the wrong way round. However this was on a 1965 4.2 with reaction valve, so sorry don't have any further suggestions for a 3.8.
Another point worth mentioning is when originally repairing the cylinder I also changed the low pressure reservoir hydraulic pipe due to a small amount of weeping through the surface area. However having sourced a new period looking pipe from a well known supplier in Crawley I now have a lot of weeping :( . So am currently looking for a modern black "period looking" hydraulic pipe which wont leak.
Does your pipe weep?
