Just about to replace the steering rack mountings (again) due to premature delamination on my S2.
Would anyone have any experience of Polybush v Standard, bearing in mind low mileage road use.
Also, a good supplier

My experience was that just don’t buy the cheap crap ones you see on auction sites. I fitted these and within a year you could see separation.
Reverted to metalastic from one of the major suppliers.

I always think designers use original parts for a reason and unless there is a good reason (i.e.) racing etc stick with original . I used to compete in cars with poly bushes fitted they gave a more positive feel But were very hash ok for a short time but not for everyday use.

I replaced my tired originals with the poly version from one of the U.K. suppliers, and they began to delaminate about 6 years/8k miles later. So for 2 years now I have Rob Beere solid mounts, which are, well, solid. I didn't find any undue harshness or issues going with the solid mounts.

Probably asking the obvious, but have you installed the movement limiting bolts?

If your question is directed to me, then yes, I have retained the factory bolt arrangement, though it serves no function as there is no movement to limit.

It seems to me Jaguar must have believed their mounts might be subject to failure, thus the factory safety bolts.

Are you sure the suspension is correctly assembled? When you detach the tie rod ball joints and jack up the front, what is the exact distance centre-to-centre of the fully-extended dampers? Many are running around with dampers 1-2 cm too long and/or XJ6 track rod ball joints which look the same but do not articulate enough and drag the rack down at full droop and can even snap.

I'd be wary of changing parts from standard spec to fix problems that should be checked for and eliminated if present. I can probably dig out an original damper but the issue has been covered here many times.
