Hello everyone,
on my Jag type XKE 1R11489 from 11/14/1969 I hadn't been paying attention so far, but I looked at the assembly of the clutch slave cylinder and the control rod.compared to the inventory parts I do not have the return spring. Clutch Return Spring Plate C5178 and fork return spring C5120. I don't know if it's specific on this model but it looks weird to me. how to prevent Clutch Release Bearing from staying in contact in this case?

For a short perion Jaguar used a clutch slave cylinder that ddint use an external return spring....the cylinder was self adjusting......they stoped useing this and reverted back to a cylinder with an external spring that needed agjusting.....details are in tbe service manual and this posf is worth looking at....Steve

To be honest and the difficulty in replaceing a worn out thrust bearing i would advise anyone to fit an external return spring and adjust correctly at regukar service intervals.......Steve
yes, disassembling the engine and gearbox to replace a simple clutch release bearing is not my favorite sport. So I am going to adjust a return spring, this is the advice of an experienced sage.
