S1 FHC 4.2
Hi I am just fitting the door cards and related chrome strips .The lower card seems like it should have bend and cover part of the hinge (which has hole for clip . OK yes I can bend the door card itself but I don't think the chrome strips will bend. Have I got the correct cards . They were ordered from one of the biggest Jaguar parts supplier which already has my car saved for ordering . Thanks

Looking at photos on line they stay straight and just stick out.

They stay traight along the bottom but bend away to follow the door line along the top, & extend beyond the front door line to just short of the A post, covering the hinge area, they don't attach to the hinge. There should be a short kinked piece of chrome trim along the downward sloping top edge beyond the widow frame line toward the A post.

On my late 63 fhc, both the upper and lower chrome trim bend to follow the bend in the door card, as per above post. The door card is scored to make the bend/curve towards the a post easier.

That's interesting. My new lower chrome strips from sng were straight (originals card & chrome were missing) so I kept the botom edge of the card straight ito match the bottom of the door. It wouldbe intetesting to see some original pics.

Look at the factory fit section for original details of 3.8 and 4.2 cars....Steve

Didn't find anything in Factory Fit, but in all other pictures I've seen the lower chrome trim looks straight.

I think the bottom is straight, however the top edge trim is to fix the bend angle..

There were a couple of them - I do not have the links.

However, I can give you access to my google drive with photos of 5 S1 4.2 original e-types.

I collect photos of original e-types - although my interests lie in the late 3.8 territory, some features are the same as early 4.2.

Not sure if you resolved this issue but here’s my solution to card fit. When I made the cards from 2mm white board MDF ( white side to the frame to help damp resistance ) I scored the back of the card on a line from the bend in the front top chrome to a point 60 mm from the from bottom front edge of the door. This enabled the the door card to bend easily to follow the top edge of the front of the door whilst allowing the bottom edge to stay straight. The chrome strip at front bottom does benefit from a slight bend but only the last 80 mm and very little. That is why the clip with two lugs holding the front of the trim is a slide fit in the trim instead of the special rivets. Otherwise the trim would keep popping off the rivet
