Changing my S3 OTS interior, from worn out and ratty biscuit to elegantly wasted cinnamon.
My understanding, original cinnamon interiors were two-tone, the flock carpet colour was tan, the vinyl trim (mat and edging) was cinnamon. New cinnamon carpets, the woven carpet colour is cinnamon, the vinyl trim is either cinnamon or beige, i.e:
I prefer the original cinnamon colour scheme, i.e. with the tan carpet. Also flock carpet to match.
My OEM front carpets (flock/biscuit) are in quite good condition due to them having been protected their whole life by the original rubber mats. Does anyone know if it is possible to re-dye flock carpet (from biscuit to tan)?

Hi Colin
Can't help re dye treatment but the original cinnamon interior of my Nov 71 car was not two tone from what I can see in this old image.

Maybe just an overexposed photo?
Hard to find a reliable photo of an original interior, this one comes close:
From http://davidsclassiccars.com/jaguar/334 ... namon.html
The leather and vinyl colour had a red base, carpet colour had a yellow base, i.e. two tone. The red fades out of the leather although remnants can be seen in the piping and creases. The vinyl retains its colour and is the strongest contrast with the carpet.
Time to start googling "how to dye carpet" ...

Hi Colin,
I'm not sure if this helps, here's a photo of my rear seat & carpet which i believe are original & cinnamon. The carpet has faded due to it's previous life in AZ.

Doesn't help, just makes me jealous. Can't beat a 50 yo patina imo.
Here is my colour conundrum:
The background is original cinnamon.
The pale pink swatch is what John Skinner or Aldridge will try to tell you is cinnamon. The other swatch is tan, closer but not close enough imo.
Is anyone able to suggest a possible supplier of original cinnamon colour carpet? Failing that, is anyone able to suggest an upholsterer who may (?) have some old S3 OTS cinnamon carpet, I could maybe use old rear bulkhead carpets (BD39469) to make new floor mats ...

Looks like the modern cinnamon colour. What was it previously, is it an OTS?

Hi Colin,
It is a 1973 OTS.
When I acquired the car the carpets were suede green and the upholstery very dark tan.
I'm not sure what the original colours were as the car came to the UK from the US with no paperwork.
