I am working on the front suspension of my late 67 ots and have discovered that I have one a arm with the grease zerk on the side of the ball mount as in earlier cars, and one with the later arrangement with the zerk in the top cap. I have received an opinion on the jag lovers list that the early and late arms may not be interchangeable and I may not be able to just plug the zerk hole and put in a zerk in the top cap. Does anyone have experience with this problem. I have posted the same question on jag lovers.

The upper ball joint repair kit from SNGB is listed as suitable for all E types from 3.8 to Series 3 so I don't think you 'll have a problem.

Thank you Andrew. That was my conclusion after comparing the measurements of each. I did want to check because the person who suggested there might be a problem is generally extremely accurate.

You can fabricate the top plate without a hole using steel of the same gauge - if you want the earlier look.

Thank you Barrie but I have top plates both with and without the hole. As an aside I have a couple of the A&A engraved ones from very early cars. Not sure if they are of any value.

Thanks for the interest Clive but I will be saving the plates to use on my 3.8 next time I reshim the ball joints. It has just standard aftermarket ones now. The A&A plates just happened to be in a lot of misc bits I purchased and I was quite pleased to find them.
