My fuel gauge has become inconsistent. When started today the gauge read just over 1/2 full, a couple of miles later it was down to 1/4, then back to half and over about 15 miles varying between.
Would anyone have any ideas?
Thank you
Simon

It could be your 10v regulator on its way out.

If it is moving about dynamically, then it may be a poor connection somewhere, as this is a bimetallic gauge. If it stays at these different levels for some time, then the more likely possibility is that the wiper rheostat wires are now so corroded that they may be breaking up, so opening it up may reveal that you need a new sender.
It is unlikely to be the 10v regulator, as the water gauge is on the same circuit and no inconsistent water temperature readings have been reported.
kind regards
Marek

I had something very similar on my 3.8. I replaced the sender and it resolved the problem. The sender was only a year old so it was the last thing I swapped out! As per
Marvel’s post, If the other instruments connected to the regulator are ok, you can probably rule that item out.
