This is the first time that I’ve owned a classic and one with knock off wheel spinners. I am concerned that having no experience with these in the event of having to remove the wheel, can I do it competently and safely. I do not fancy using a soft hammer in case I hit the paintwork in the process. I am a little clumsy with this type of thing. I’ve bought a removal tool from Limit Engineering as pictured and I plan to buy a cheap torque wrench to put in the spare wheel recess along with the Jack and spinner tool. I’ve heard different opinions on how tight the spinners should be fitted. My question is this, is there such a thing of a torque setting I should be aiming for. Do these thing ever come loose?

Hi Deryk...have a read here.......tightening spinners isnt a real problem. ....undoeing them however can be difficult with a spinner tool/bar etc.....a good heavy hammer and a length of 4x2 will always get you out of trouble..Steve viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12794&hilit=Spinner+torque

He was still doing them in Sept 2020 as that’s when I bought mine.

So that Limit Eng tool just puts the pegs on either side of the knock off ears and turn with wrench?
Does it work well?

Yes, funny the video shows it with an impact. On the road is where it would be most helpful. Be good to have an "on the road" simulation of it in action without an impact.

Layne, see if Lionel (see above) will ship stateside. They are very good and maybe there’s an American equivalent?

Yes no problems with mine still in one piece and works well with the original hammer that came with the car.

Yes like to check it out. Haven't missed with the hammer yet but I'm not getting any steadier.

I bought one of Lionel's tools. Nice tool but I don't carry it 'cos I cannot undo my spinners with it (when they are done up good and tight). This is because you need a v. large socket/spanner to fit the hex and it all takes up too much space. I use the nylon faced Thor hammer. It's heavy enough and does not mark the spinners. Copper mallets will mark the spinner.

Just to say Lionel is definitely still making his spinner tool, I bought one a couple of weeks back. Here’s a pic. I had to buy a 38mm socket but I already had a reasonable sized bar to use with it.

Jerry, it isn’t difficult to fit a long extension bar and 38mm (or is it 39mm) socket lying across the car behind the upstand. It’s where I keep mine and if it’s a bit tight to undo simply stand on the end of the long socket extension and it soon comes undone. I hope that helps.
