#1 Fuel expansion tank series 3

Has anyone removed the fuel expansion tank on a series 3, mine is an American import and I have removed all the engine emission pipes carbs etc as I have british carbs intake etc, but my petrol expansion tank is missing and is no longer available, is it possible to bypass this? Thanks in advance.
