Hi All
I ordered a Lockheed Servo from one of the main reputable suppliers and they sent me a Powertune aftermarket one instead (they had adjusted the price but I didn’t pick it up as they still called it Lockheed on the order. I called them and they admitted the cock up- they haven’t had Lockheed since before Christmas and are not expecting to see them anytime soon. They say they have sold 41 Powertune Servos year to date with no returns. Does anyone have any experience of these units? They are half the price of Lockheed!- sometimes that represents lower quality and sometimes an overpriced brand imho, so I would be grateful for any experience / advice.

Interesting...i cant find any info re who maker powertune servo........depends what you want....i assume Lockhead as thats what you ordered......im sure other suppliers have them.....Steve

Thanks Steve, yes I really wanted Lockheed and I did see that my other “main supplier” has them. Was just intrigued about the Powertune unit as its quite a big saving and I’m pretty sure the other supplier wasn’t spinning me a yarn about their sales/returns of these. Tbf you probably wouldn’t expect returns this early even if they were suspect. Obv not a big job to change it if it does fail but probably not worth the risk.

Lockheed in Leamington Spa ( AP ) was broken up years ago , and after various takeovers, management buyouts etc part of the braking operation was sold to India and part to Italy, so it is anyon'e guess what you get if you insist on Lockheed. If the Powertune is the right shape and size and pipework, I should stick with it. It might be the very same servo with a different label !

Thanks Chris, I did a fair bit of digging last night and I think you may be right. Powertune seem to work really hard at protecting their identity. In my industry (building materials) that generally happens when one company wants two bites of the cherry (main brand and aftermarket). I also found two people on other forums suggesting Lockheed actually own Powertune. Either way, pics of the Lockheed unit look suspiciously similar to the aftermarket one I have received, so I’m going to fit it and see how it goes.
