#1 Rear hood chrome new or refinish?

Morning all,
I’m in the place where I need to decide whether to have my existing rear hood chrome repaired and chromed or buy a new reproduction item. My existing has had some extra holes drilled through and although the chrome is good then repairing these will probably mean a re chrome.
So I’m faced with the cost of this or buying one of the repros available. Cost will possibly be the same although some reproductions seems cheaper than others.
So my question is does anyone have experience of those currently on sale, I’m well aware that some chrome items from the usuals are doubtful quality
