HI gtjoey,
No! happy to report that after nearly 2000 miles the doors still shut with a clunk with even gaps.

I rotate amongst three different knobs as my mood changes: D type, polished stainless ball, and SNG 5 speed pattern. The SNG has the same pattern as you show, but in a smaller knob, equal in size to the OEM Jag one.

Are you able to keep the chrome ring?
Or does it pull?
These are all interesting parts to this swap!
I think we are going through it ALL

My (custom) boot doesn't have the chrome ring, so can't comment on that. I have the 5 speed T-5 conversion that Classic Jaguar was selling back in 2004, not sure who made it. Similar overly tapered lever though. I have a slightly longer non tapered polished stainless shift handle to install next time I have the console out as I'm not a fan of the tapered look.

That’s was Paul’s transmissions from Florida.
Those were a great box but he is done making them .
I will have to see on the chrome ring.
The shaft is tapered so it gets pinched
Just don’t know yet till it’s in the car.
Getting excited to jump back on it.
Yes I have the SNG 5 speed ball as well.
Did want to mess it up on the floor
Hopefully next week I have the devoted time
It won’t take long after that.
Thanks for your help.

Yep, Guy Broad stick and a well known small Japanese rear wheel drive sports car knob which has the same gate pattern.

So between you and I ...
Its making the THROW between gears a LOT shorter?
I kind of like the D TYPE look but do see the advantage of the short throw shifter.
It looks a bit porsche 924 / japanese unit but you must have a ton of room.

For the D-Type gear shift Jaguar assumed drivers would be wearing driving gloves. On a long drive or hot day it is going to be very uncomfortable to a bare hand. Have you noticed that no car manufacturers use alloy for their gear knobs?

I understand young man but since every gated Ferrari and Ford Gt40 used a steel or polished aluminum shift ball for 75 years , maybe we try it
Besides I always use protection no matter what balls we use .
Gloves , a sock , lamb skins…..

Well we are going from cat scans to MRI today
But somehow my parents are still living
Pray next week I’m back on the car

You will certainly need these with the alloy knob:
Personally I would forgo the driving gloves and have the Patek Philippe Nautilus which, unfortunately, costs more than the car! I do question why someone covers their beautiful wood rim wheel with leather and then wears leather gloves

Looks like the 5sp conversations may be a thing of the past, there are people in deepest darkest Kent fitting 6speed autos. Personally I’m holding off until they can fit the 8sp ZF with a pop up gear selector before binning my Moss box

I wanted to try that a year ago BUT
You are literally cutting the Body, Floor pans and Tunnel
It’s over the moon plus my left leg still
Works.
Now in a series 3 I would do it in a heart beat!
My 1962 mark 2 has a 700r gm transmission and it completely transforms the ride
