My car is equipped that type to control when the fan comes on. My question is what temp to set it to, at the moment it is set to 70 deg c but I think it is low. To what temp is it recommended to be set at?

Danny,

I swapped out my manual thermostat adjuster (Kenlowe) to one of these (85/78°C) so its preset and works a treat;

The Kenlowe capillary globe sat in the top hose and was always seeping so I’ve now solved it permanently.

Coolcat has a very similar product. Similar range i believe.
Works very nicely. My old repro Otter held the fan on to 70, which when working out the car often meant the fan was on when it had no need to be as temp would stabilize around 75 at speed while the fan continued to operate.

Hi 6 cylinder or 12 ?
I Like to 6 cylinder cars reaching no more than 80 before fan comes on , going off at about 73 .
And V12 a little higher 87 max on
Going off around 82 .
And that's testing with me thermometer probe . Not just relying on the temp gauge .
