#1 Cant rail gap at screen/A post.
Hi all, just fitted the screen to my 63 fixed head. There’s a rather unsightly gap between the cant rail and the screen rubber on the inside of the A post. It’s about 10mm or so and looks pretty ugly from the outside. Can anyone advise if this is how it was? Looks like it needs a sponge filler or similar tucking in. All parts with the exception of the screen rubber are original and in original screw holes etc so think this is how it’s always been. Thanks in advance. Chris.

Thanks Bill, good idea. Couple of pics below, but with the screen out. When screen is in its considerably worse, about 10mm. Since posting I’ve actually decided to try a different screen. It seems that in 2020 Pilkingtons (mine is dated Nov 2019) had a dodgy batch of screens, the curve was incorrect, I’ve measured mine against their dimensions and it’s got 11mm too little curve which would make the ends of the screen stick out (another part of our problem). So hopefully a new screen will fix both issues.
I’m going to deal with gap between top of cant rail and upper screen finisher too, no idea why it fall short. Ta. Chris.

Surely you need that gap to take account the width of the screen?
I would just fit the screen.

Hi Chris,
Had this on mine, just fit a thin strip of matching vinyl trim behind the cantrail to cover the exposed metal.

Thanks, Problem has been traced to a dodgy screen, it’s too flat by about 10mm or so. When fitted the rubber is stretched outwards opening the gap to about twice what is shown in the pic. We’ve fitted the old one and it’s much better. Collecting a replacement screen from Pilkington next week, so should all be good.
