Chrome plating rims

Can anyone suggest a firm that can re-plate S3 steel rims to a good standard, I’m finding quite a few places that I’ve used before will not do it because they can’t guarantee the quality of the finish in the deep well of the front face. I realise that the anode needs to “throw” into the little dark spaces where a std process may not, so a shaped anode has been suggested…..neeed a “man” who can…any ideas??

I’m a little out of the way to make suggestions on who, but I would recommend a shop that will do them in their own batch so they can customize the process and configuration.
Most shops will want to plate them in the plating baths in a batch with other items so the parameters won’t be ideal for your item. Doesn’t work well for items like yours.
And that will apply to all baths-Copper/Nickel/Chrome.
Polishing is more difficult in those recesses too.

Assume you considered new wheels? Might be similar price, over here anyway.

Layne, thanks for your Interest, the question of batch plating is THE question.!!
If I have to work/drive with 95% wheels then so be it ...I'm not going for a concourse car, im an oily rag guy and want a nice "driver"... one has to try.

Embrittlement is an issue on plating wheels as well and would have to be addressed properly by the shop, which some may not do properly.

So, 95% on a nice driver sounds good to me. Clean em, get some good wax on there and enjoy the drive Peter.

Hi Peter....have you looked at the chrome effect powder coating......havent had it done myself but seen some wheels that look very good.....worth a look......Steve

Years back I looked at this company, before deciding to go with my original nice but not perfect set. No affiliation, just the only company I could find who seemed to do it.

FWIW I used Marque Restore for all my chrome plating (not wheels, bought new ones) and they did a superb job.
