#1 1970 2+2 transmission automatic question XKE

Folks, basket case car, with ( I think) xj6 automatic transmission, there is a rubber hose coming from a
fitting on the right side of transmission, going up to the carbs (but not attached). I have gone to a transmission shop and asked what it is for, they think it might be a breather plug, but the young ones do not really know,
I have attached a pic and you will see exactly what I mean, what is it and what do I do with it. Thanks

You need to identify exactly what gearbox it is to tell if it is the breather.....this shows a type 35 breather so could be similar......Steve
