#1 Hood frame colour

Post by Heronscourt » Mon Nov 28, 2022 9:40 pm

I’m about to fit a new hood cover. The existing cover is black but the heritage certificate gives the original colour as biscuit. The hood frames are what appears to be dove grey, the same colour as the seat bases. The interior is suede green so can anyone tell me if dove grey is the correct colour for frames with a biscuit coloured cover. I have seen black frames with a black hood cover and a maroon frame with a maroon cover although they may not have been original

All of the original ones I've seen are the dove grey.

Thanks Andrew. Do you have the correct paint code, I’ve seen at least 3 different codes and one supposed dove grey aerosol was way off the shade.

A search on the forum for ‘dove’ gives about 40 results including: “I have found BS381C-694 'Dove Grey' is good match”

The BS 381-C colours were used extensively in 1950's and 60's automotive and continue to be used in UK military applications. Sometimes, the colour names suggest a shade other than what you get.
