Folks, basket case, I have the gas pedal with a spring that goes somewhere near the pedal, but cannot figure out where it goes, it did come from the interior, odd looking (not a coil type) can anyone tell me
where it goes??? Thanks Mike.

Assuming you car is RHD, there are 2 springs.
One is V shaped and fits inside the housing around the fulcrum bolt.
There is provision for a second coil return spring with a hole drilled in the back of the drop arm. I think that this attaches to a plate (like an oval washer) that is attached to one of the housing studs, but I've never actually seen one fitted so I'm not sure.
