#1 Overdrive speedo gear clearance

Post by lowact » Mon Jan 02, 2023 11:51 am

Calling all OD x-spurts?
Here is pic of my S3 gearbox with OD fitted, the original extension housing in the foreground, speedo drives superficially appear to be in similar position...

Here is earlier pic of the oem arrangement showing acres of clearance around the speedo drive.

Here are pics with the OD installed. With the gearbox mounting spring compressed there is almost zero clearance between the speedo drive (side retaining screw) and the side wall of the tunnel...

Is this the same for others? What to do about it, nothing, or a bit of panel beating?
By SNGB pics, the e-type speedo drive C25547 and the XJ6 (= OD) speedo drive C24589 appear the same, does anyone know if this is correct?
Thanks peoples.

Not untypical to have to bash out the tunnel a bit......although sometimes they fit without.....Steve
