I'm in the process of rebuilding my S1, 4.2 engine and want to know if anyone has experience of using the Rob Deere fluid harmonic damper on an s1 4.2 with duplex crank pulley?
I need a new pulley as the original cast iron one is cracked and I don't want to put a 60 year old damper back.
Thanks,
Phil

Hi yes I’ve used robs harmonic damper, excellent bit of kit, infact nearly all upgrades I get from Rob you’ll be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable man and very helpful.
However, the std e type harmonic balancer is actually a very good item..

Hi Paul.
Many thanks for your reply. There's no substitute for personal experience. I'm pleased that you say the standard rubber one is a good damper as I've gone for a Pro Race rubber damper with a new pulley. The damper was from SNGB and the pulley from Smith's through Hutson. In fact by the time you bought a new pulley, the cost of the fluid one is only about £100 more; hence the reason that I asked the question.
Many thanks again.
Phil
