Continuing to review my purchase (1964 3.8l OTS) I came across this!
is this a normal fitment for an E-Type?
or is it from another model?

It looks to be the correct breather but it is fitted facing towards the exhaust side of the engine. They usually face towards the inlet manifold side. Where does the pipe connect? Could it be going to an oil catch tank on the left side of the car?

I don't think it's mounted upside down since the ignition coil would be underneath in that case. The tube is in the open towards the end of the engine, no collection container.

If it is an open pipe then you will pushing crankcase fumes into the atmosphere, not the best for the planet. The outlet should face towards the carbs and be connected to the air cleaner (air inlet) to be burnt within the engine. Not all E types had the coil attached to the breather, some were mounted on the space frame.

It should mount like this...coil fits in the same place....outlet feeds into air intake...Steve

You're missing the bracket that mounts the coil & attaches to the top 2 studs of the cyl head breather cover.

No, no it is present but not really visible on the first picture :-)

I reconstituted the metal bracket that was missing and reassembled everything properly. Problem solved. THANKS!
