#1 Head Gasket

Post by SimonBrown » Sun Oct 01, 2023 8:20 pm

Good Evening,
Does anyone have any advice on which head gasket to use?
SNG list an aftermarket set (presumably of good quality), or Payen at over double the price!
Obviously don’t want to end up doing the job twice
Thank you
Simon

Hi Simon,

I got mine from here:
https://www.thexmod.com/item_detail.asp?id=3328

I’m not affiliated to the company. These are genuine jaguar items for the J60 engine. They fitted my 4.2 engine perfectly! You can’t argue at £25 including VAT too!!

If you don’t want to do the job twice, I would consider consulting Rob Beere.

In fact I would no longer buy any XK engine part from anywhere else, in view of the rabid state of the aftermarket world.

Thank you for your help, I have ordered from XMod, I just couldn’t justify £165 plus VAT from Rob Beere, although no doubt it is a quality product

Rfs1957.. mentioned rob beere products, I can honestly say his products and helpfulness are second to none. You may pay a tad more but that’s quality of the product, bears into insignificance if you have to spend a day pulling the head back off..
Previously...S1 OTS E type (sold)
S1 2+2 manual. (Sold)
S2 rhd OTS full resto finished 8/23
S1 3.8 coupe (full restoration yet to start!)
