#1 Important info re tyres and Longstone

A long story, but worth a read.
I recently bought 4 new Pirelli Cinturatos for my S2 2+2 from Longstone Tyres, complete with new inner tubes, rim tape etc.
I was very pleased, handled well in the wet and so on.
However, after not many miles I went on tour to Brittany. After a short while, I started getting horrendous noises from the offside rear. I thought a wheel bearing was going, diff problem, half shaft - just didn't know; I'm not very technical as many of you will know!
The car drove fine, but the noise got steadily worse.
When I got to Concarneau, two of my JDC friends on tour with me, who are far more knowledgeable than I, climbed in while I took them out for a listen (Advantages of a 2+2!)
They both declared it wasn't mechanical, but a tyre noise. I explained they were almost new, no kerb knocks etc, but they said they had heard of new tyres having problems, delaminating etc.
We changed the wheel for the spare, noise instantly gone.
On returning to the UK, I contacted Dougal from Longstone on the forum. He immediately put me in touch with Michael from Longstone who arranged for the wheel with offending tyre to be collected from my house and taken to them in Doncaster. They could see no obvious problem so sent the tyre to Pirelli. Pirelli haven't reported fully, but there obviously was a problem because they agreed a no-cost new replacement.
Longstone then fitted the new tyre to my wheel, balanced it and are sending it back to me.
Throughout the whole situation, Longstone kept me up to date with phone calls and info.
So well done Longstone, I thought they did a brilliant job for me.
