Bonnet adjustment

We have got the gaps correct on the bonnet but the latches wont lock unless you push it down at the back Altering the shims at the spring mechanism at the front . Will this help ?

There's a bit of wiggle room to adjust the receiving brackets, locking pawls, and locating pins and brackets.

No tried all that. We can get it to lock down but we have to lean on the bonnet above the latch.
It is a brand new bonnet and all new front frame.

If what you're saying is that you need to push down on the rear edge to get the latch to engage then this is pretty normal. All my cars are like this.

Prior to installing the latches would the bonnet sit down flat at the rear?

If the bonnet gaps are exactly where you want them, leave the hinge shims as they are. You should be able to adjust both the body mounted receiver and the bonnet mounted latch pin to get a good closing action without much force. Note there is a rubber cushion on the locating pin that needs to be installed correctly to facilitate this.

Yes finally finished the bonnet fitting. Locks down and gaps near perfect but what a job . taking spacers out or replacing with different sizes.
Just a question at the front there is a thick spacer ( about 5mm) in the position to lift the bonnet on both sides ,is this normal ?

The thick spacer is there to adjust the horizontal joint to the rear of the wheel arch to get it parallel with the sill extention, and the vertical joint parallel with the bulhead. The thinner shims are for finer adjustments.
