Folks, got car in parts, now painted, ready to install quarter windows, no idea what rubber or seal kit required,
moss shows 36-2200 $250.00 u.s. dollars(ouch) for a metal unit that rubber bd20500 fits into, but I'm confused, I bought a complete rubber seal kit, and they were not in set, a different number 18-2200,
which I cannot find a diagram of. so how does this quarter window seal to body??? Thanks Mike.

Hi
You need the steel rails that the rubber seals slot into. These pop rivet on to the cantrails.
See attached.

As a general principle I find SNG Barratt's website the easiest one to find parts. Even if you're not going to buy from them it's a good place to start looking. Moss also have their own annoying part numbers which aren't the same as the Jaguar ones.

The metal channel is something that you could omit if you really wanted to, and just glue the seal to the bodywork. The channel doesn't really hold the seal well enough that you can get away without glue anyway.
There is also a similar channel around the door opening but these are usually not used for the same reason. It's a lot easier to just glue the seal to the body; you get a better and more controllable fit.

True that the SNG website is the place to go when looking for a piece.
Useful however to have in hand the E-Type spare parts catalogue (as shown by Stuart here above).
Some unusual "accessory" pieces (seals, washers, etc.) are not always shown or identified in the drawings of the SNG website and you have to know the exact Jaguar reference to find them at SNG.
