wire motor wires (again) simple question. 67 1.5
#1 wire motor wires (again) simple question. 67 1.5
Ok guys, I have been looking at a lot of posts on this, yep frustrated, after many hours, yes my motor was butchered, completely wrong wires on brushes, guy tried to convert from rhd to lfd, and they are wrong,
so the pics I have seen from you fellows show me I now must have red/green to left brush, after switch,
but the pics do not show what goes on the new right hand brush, there are two wires that I must put to
the right brush, can some just say put color XXX and YYY to the right brush pls, it sounds so
simple, I just need that info. Thanks Mike.

Perhaps you mean wiper motor wires? If so, you may want to edit your post subject name in order to get some relevant help.

Steve, yes it would help if the problem was better described. There are very good colour diagrams in the technical knowledge section that will help to identify which wires should go where. Also new sets of wiring are available and could be the best way to solve a problem of a car changed from one side to another.
Also, if the topic author would add his name and car type to his signature (click on user name top right) then those trying to help can better respond.

Do you have a 3 wire DL3A wiper with the square body and the parking mechanism on the motor itself?
Or do you have a 6 wire motor with a round body (late S1.5) or the early square body unit with 6 wires and the parking switch behind the dash?
Could you post a couple of photos of the exterior of the unit and the wiring you have please?

Folks, thanks for some comments, 1st hard to believe but this 75 year old fart does not have a cell phone for pics, yep I'm in the dark ages, thats why I like old british cars, it's the 6 wire unit, because on how I was brought up I'm a cheap bugger, but still have spent over $45,000 U.S. funds on this series 1.5.
I do not care if it takes me 6 hours to get this wiper motor running,at my age I have nothing else to do anyway,
Thw yellow wire (only one not played with) goes to the back, and it looks like black goes to the front side of where the yellow is,
all other wires have been screwed with on do not match any diagrams, it is just the 2nd wire on the brushes,
I cannot see it in any of the pics. Thanks Mike.

Mike, an inexpensive digital camera really is worth buying to both keep records for yourself and to post photos for others to help you.
Posting images is easy, too. Have a look here:

The absolute frustration on this f...king motor getting me upset, I have spent at least 10 hours in the last few weeks, some people say blue some say two greens, I am an old frustrated guy, a few pics I have seen
even show different colors, my motor now has white green on one side and blue white on the other brush,
some say red wire WITH another color. The ONLY wire that has not been touched by previous owner is the one at the back, it could be color brown/green. all the searches are for jag 140 and tr4 and mg,
I guess I better walk away from this for a few months.

thanks andrew for reply, but there are two wires on the post opposite the red wire, that is my issue,
so I cannot figure out the 2nd wire. Mike.

Looking through my pictures, I think there are 2 wires; blue/green and blue.
The solid blue comes from the thermal cut-out switch inside the switch; the green/blue goes to the panel switch.
You can almost see this here:

This is the inside of the motor on my 1964 S1 3.8 OTS.
It was LHD and I think this photo is from before I changed it to RHD.

Well folks, still am a little confused on the armature wires, in the technical section and many other
folks have said just switch the green/blue and the red to opposite side,
BUT and here is the but. (needed for LHD)
My car was a rhd and switched over to lhd by an amateur, all the wires on the motor were really
messed up, because it was not working at all I took it apart, with all your help I now know
where the wires go. but looking at the brushes faced down, which one is the + ??????
I will put the RED on the positive but my problem is the pics Andew sent he ""thinks""
the red is on the right, can someone pls verify for me 100% with brushes faced down
is the rgiht side RE for LHD. Thanks again Mike.

wonder never cease wiper works great, now I am going to make it simple for everyone.
brushed rods DOWN, when looking at inners here is how to wire it. for U.S. lhd
Red on left brush, green blue on right brush
brown to left of red. white to right of green/blue
Yellow to rear end of unit on the right brush side
Make sure big wheel turns clockwise when look from side of wheel
So dam simple, but took a long time. thanks to everyone Mike.
