#1 Manifold studs to head

As I progress with my head overhaul I’m now looking at the studs which secure the inlet and exhaust manifolds to the head. Once removed before the head work some of these had clearly seen better days.
I’ve got a few assorted studs in my parts box all of these along with the existing have 5/16 unf / unc threads

Although I carefully bagged up the studs from each manifold separately it’s obvious that they are a mixed bag of differing lengths.
The SNG website lists c11761 as suitable for both inlet and exhaust and c7624 for the exhaust only.

My question is should the studs all be the same?
Does any difference exist twixt inlet and exhaust ?

What do you use?
What know is that a set of stainless studs is significant cost !

Thanks
Tim

Hi Tim..
.your best off looking at the parts catalogue(knowledge base) for the part numbers.......although it dosnt give lengths.....Steve

Aren’t a couple of studs longer, eg on the exhaust where the dipstick clamp attaches?

Geoff,
Yes, the parts manual lists differing studs for the gearbox breather, dipstick holder and alternator heat shield.
I’m not sure that these differing studs are available.

I’m going to have a stud sorting session tomorrow!

Buying all new stainless studs is a temptation but costly
.

Thanks both

Tim

Go to a bolt and nut supplier (like Namrick or Sterling in Peterborough). They stock UNC/UNF studs in all normal material/plating specs.

Thanks all, I reckon it’s sorted now.
