Post by autoalain » Sun Jan 21, 2024 2:36 pm

Folks, the thing on firewall with black/ and white wires, what is it for??
also notice a (what looks like a brake line) running just under the object with wire, is this stock item?
if so what is it for? my 67 fhc(same year as pic) does not have that steel line?

The thing on the firewall looks to be an aftermarket circuit breaker. You can trace the wires to find out what it is protecting.

That brake line is not for the brakes, but is the line from the clutch master cylinder to the clutch slave cylinder. Look under the rear of the intake manifold and you should be able to see the junction between that hard line and the flexible line that goes down to the clutch cylinder.

Edit: If your car is together and running, it must have a line somewhere to operate the clutch.

Yep - an auto-resetting circuit-breaker.
I'll trip once current exceeds whatever it's rated at and then automatically close to energise the circuit again.
My experience is if there's a continuing fault it'll make a buzzing noise as it repeatedly trips & resets.
