Outside Door Handle Push Button Clearance

I'm in the process of fitting the outside door handle and trying to achieve the 1/32in clearance between the plunger and contractor shown on Page N23 of the Service manual. I'm finding that the plunger is in contact with the contractor despite the plunger being screw completely in.

If the door latches correctly, can anyone see why I shouldn't accept as is.
