#1 What does this little screw do? Distributor drive.
Can anyone advise what the little 10/32” screw in the pic does? It was removed and not returned by the guys that chemically cleaned the block, but I can see it’s purpose. It’s not mentioned in the manual and I’m reluctant to put the front cover on until I know what it does. Looking down the hole it has never been in contact with the drive bush. Thanks. Chris.

That was my first thought, but the bush has not been changed, and looking down the hole there is no witness mark on the bush, nor would you really want one as could easily push the bush out of round. Unless there is a recess in the bush that the screw locates into. Not seen one out the engine. Cheers.

Ha, just been looking at the same pic. All very obvious now. Thanks for your help.

Welcome.
I'm surprised that they didn't remove the bush prior to cleaning the block. We knock them out with a mandrel made for the job prior to sending the block off. AS you see from the picture there's places there where crud can accumulate.

Late to the party I know but…it doesn’t hold the bush. It provides access to drill the block the other side of the bush to make an oilway for MOG pressure to enter the drive shaft and lubricate it. The hole is tapped so you can block it off with a copper washer otherwise oil pressure will jet out.

There's a different screw locating the bush, accessible from the outside of the block facing forward just below the distributor.
