Hi, there is a felt seal, BD19031, that is fixed to the top of the stone guard that sits in front of the radiator. Not surprisingly mine is missing.
Does anyone know which way it fits? Parts list says self tappers. Does anyone have a photo?
Is it wise to put a strip of felt here, seems to me like another moisture trap just waiting to rot the bonnet.

Hi Steve,
The felt appears to be stuck in place, there are no holes in the top edge of the frame.
The self tappers you refer to will be those that attach the frame to the sides of the air ducts.
The reason for the felt is to keep all the airflow in the correct place, without the felt the air would pass over the top of the frame reducing the amount directed at the radiator. Might not be much but must have been thought necessary when they designed it. If your bonnet is painted on the inside there shouldn't be any way a wet felt could rot the bonnet, certainly never happened on mine and it would dry out quickly with the engine heat if it was wet.

Not sure about series 1 but on the 2's there is also a foam seal on top of the rad which seals against the bonnet when closed.
Regards

I bought one from SNG, it came pre-shaped and had double sided tape fitted to the foam, just needed to remove the adhesive covering and fit it to the car. I cannot remember the price but it was cheap.
