Have you seen this classic tyre test?

What it proves is just how good the Pirelli Collezione range is. if you want to put a 205/70VR15 on a 6 cylinder car the CN12 is the best. The P5 came second, but it would do, becuase the P5 is designed for slightly later cars, but importantly, cars with power steering.

What i fgound really good is that the none classic tyres: Dunlop Sport Classic, Vredestein and Radar; (which includes some really modern tyres that of course have the benefits of computer modeling for their tread patterns) could at best match the P5. for a modern tyre of course it is much easier to make a modern designed tyre roll easier and quieter. a genuine period tread pattern cannot possibly compete with computer modeling for thse features.

I note howver that the Vredestein Sprint Classic is rated 4th in general and not far off from the classic Pirellis for a substantially lower cost.

Well there is something in that if cost is your determining factor when choosing tyres. which of course is probably the last thing you should conisder. Its like buying rubbish speakers for an amazingb stereo.

Have you noticed the maths on the is tes as well? i think the Pirelli P5 arguably should have won. they have given it an overal score of 2.1 when it should have been 1.2
