Dear all,
Have seen this lamp a few times now and wondered if anyone could shed some light (NPI) on where you can buy them or how you fabricate them yourself.
It’s the unit used on the continuation Lightweights but I’ve seen two other cars fitted with them now but they were unattended so couldn’t enquire with owner.
Thanks

The green molding is all one part and these are available from the usuals, but it looks as though you'd have to look in the Lucas parts bin for the middle bit and cobble something together. The centre will be just a small bulb behind a jewel. I'd have guessed it's an oil light.
kind regards
Marek

Here are a couple of Lucas '' dipping '' warning lights which could be rolled to dim or increase light, the centre looks similar but the bezel looks different.

Dear all,
Thanks for your replies and efforts.
Yes you’re right Steve they’re not on all the new lightweight cars. Car zero, not. The grey one at Mayfair Jaguar dealer a few years ago - the one that did some racing with Gary Pearson- yes if memory serves me. Silver one with red interior that I saw somewhere , yes. Others hard to recall. I think the Autocar test car had it too. Various magazines and online articles reveal the same mix. Dashboard finishes and pedals vary too it appears. Whatever the customer wanted. They all look much the same to me apart from paint and leather, and fuel injection or not of course if the bonnet is up. Beautiful investment/display pieces. I find the racers at Goodwood and Silverstone etc far more interesting.
My dash lamp unit is the original so I’m sure that even thinking about gently opening out the hole with a needle file would just crack it in two. And it would probably serve me right too. It’s tatty but does the job. I think a hollow tube through which a small lamp could fit, with a threaded outer could possibly work, but there are so many other important things to worry about on the car instead quite frankly. I was really hoping someone would say it was from a Ford anglia or a Jag saloon I wasn’t aware of, and I could just buy one. Or maybe one of the clever 3D printing squad might have copied the idea and have a template.
40GT I did look at buying a square led fitting and going from there, but as has been stated, there’s so little space to work with I decided against it. Maybe if the dash was being stripped and renovated… Stock unit will continue to be fine.
Thanks again everyone.
